Servings: 8–10 | Prep Time: 25 minutes | Cook Time: 35 minutes | Total Time: ~1 hour

This Southern-style cornbread dressing is cozy, rich, and full of flavor — smoky sausage, tender turkey or chicken, and perfectly seasoned cornbread baked together into the kind of pan that tastes like the holidays and home.

✨ Ingredients
  • 1 full pan of homemade cornbread, crumbled
  • Celery, chopped
  • Onion, chopped
  • Smoked sausage, chopped small
  • Pre-shredded turkey or chicken
  • Stovetop stuffing (turkey or chicken flavor)
  • Sage
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Eggs, whisked
  • Chicken broth
🍴 Instructions
  1. Sauté the veggies: In a skillet, sauté chopped celery and onion with salt and pepper until slightly translucent.
  2. Add the sausage: Add chopped smoked sausage to the pan and sauté everything together until lightly browned and fragrant.
  3. Crumble the cornbread: In a large mixing bowl, crumble your entire pan of homemade cornbread.
  4. Combine mixture: Add the cooked celery, onions, and sausage into the crumbled cornbread and mix well.
  5. Add the meat: Fold in your pre-shredded turkey or chicken.
  6. Add Stovetop & seasoning: Add dry Stovetop stuffing (turkey or chicken flavor), then season with sage, additional salt, and black pepper to taste.
  7. Add eggs: Pour in whisked eggs and mix until everything is evenly combined.
  8. Transfer & moisten: Add the mixture into a baking dish. Slowly pour chicken broth over the top, mixing gently until the dressing is fully moistened but not soupy.
  9. Bake: Bake at 375°F for about 35 minutes, checking after the first 20 minutes. Dressing should be set and lightly golden on top.
💕 Destany’s Tip: Add broth slowly — you want your dressing moist, not mushy. For the best texture and even browning, bake it on the bottom rack of your oven. Let your cornbread sit overnight before using it for an even richer, more authentic Southern flavor.
